December Meeting Notice

Hey Girls, me again....

I want to get this on your calendars and get your input.  In December, I would like to host a Christmas party to include our spouses or another fun person of your choice if your husband is no fun, out of town, a wet blanket.  ;-)  Or you can just come yourself!

Will DECEMBER 15TH in the evening work for you?

I have three ideas and I want to know your preference.

1.  I can host an official Murder Mystery party where we dress up, get role play stuff and someone gets to die!  There is a Living Social deal today that has this and I will buy the package if you guys think you would want to play along.

2.  Pot luck dinner, play, mingle

  • rabbits exchange hand made gifts for each other
  • bring one gag gift that will be given to the boys
  • we have a ginger bread house building competition (Dawn has done this with me before and it was a hoot)
  • Laugh, be happy
3.  Adult, mature Christmas gathering
  • sit down dinner
  • say a prayer
  • sing Christmas carols
  • exchange deep, meaningful gifts
  • insist that our boys tell everyone about the best Christmas gift they got as a child
  • Then insist that our boys tell everyone how they plan to make this Christmas the best ever for us

So, let me know what you think.

Sitting in the bushes now, done hopping,

Mama

October/November/December

Attention All Crazy Rabbits!

Our next meeting will be October 17th at Beryl's house, 6:30p.  Project to be determined and will be posted soon.  Mark your calendars....

In November, Carolyn was going to host but her calendar is getting to be too much and she will not be able to host and maybe not even attend the meeting.

I would be happy to host both November and December if you would like me to.  You guys let me know what you want to do, if anyone else wants to host either of these two months just say the word.

If I host November and December, here is what I am thinking:

November, we will make those little Snowmen from an old bottle and glitter and such.

December, I would like to host a Christmas party....not sure if I will have time to decorate, but I would try.  I was even thinking we could invite the men. What are your thoughts?  I am always reluctant to host a party for fear no one will show up.

If there are days in November and December that do not work for you, let me know....or let me know what DOES work and I'll get it on the calendar.

September 19, 2012 Meeting

Rabbits,

Betty will be hosting our meeting on September 19th, 6:30p to 9:00p (or so).

The project is altered/decorated boxes; I call them Betty Boxes.

Betty will also teach us a painting technique....fun!

Materials needed:

  • Box  - any box you might have (small jewelry, video or picture, papier mache, even one you don't like and want to recover
  • Mod Podge
  • Patterned Paper Napkins or Scrapbook paper of your choice
  • Paint to coordinate if you don't want to do the entire box

Betty did the entire jewelry box in an hour and the lid to the picture box in an hour.  Using scrapbook paper takes a little longer than the napkins.

Food:  Betty has chosen SALADS as our theme.  So we need 1 person to do wine/tea, 1 to do a salad dessert, everyone else bring your favorite salad.  Let me know what you want to do so I can make sure we have it covered.

See photos: heart shaped papier mache box, before and after picture box, small jewelry box and papier mache square box.

Date:  May 23, 2012
Time:  6:30p to 9:00p
Location:  Lorie's House

RSVP TO BETH@4MYK9.COM BY MAY 18TH - DO NOT REPLY TO THE BLOG POST, I WON'T GET IT.

Art Project:  Collage Art

Details: using mostly the supplies you already have, create a collage art piece.  The style will be your own, it could be fine art, whimsical, or something in between!

col·lage

1. picture with pieces stuck on surface: a picture made by sticking cloth, pieces of paper, photographs, and other objects onto a surface
2. art of making collages: the art of making pictures by sticking cloth, pieces of paper, photographs, and other objects onto a surface
3. combination of different things: a combination of different things

Suggested materials:

  • Stretched canvas - it is fun to reuse an old painting, one of yours, one found on the clearance table or one you find at a garage sale.  Any size will do, remember the bigger the canvas, the more fun you can have.
  • Paints - several colors of your choice.
  • Paint brushes.
  • Ink pads, inks, any other coloring tools you like to work with.
  • Texture tools (stencils, tin foil ball, anything that can add texture to your painting will give it more chacacter.
  • Pictures, embellishments, cloth, words, sayings, paper, stickers, rub ons, beads, corks, wine label, cigar band, paper menu from the chinese restraunt, etc....bring more than you think you'll need, use your imaganation.  Look through all your things...
  • Glue - Mod Podge Mat works great for this type of project.  YOU WILL USE LOTS OF GLUE.  You'll want to seal it later with a gloss sealer.
  • Brayer (if you have one)
  • Paper cutter if you want straight lines
  • SCISSORS

Food and beverages: In light of a collage being a random collection of things, lets just bring whatever and see what we end up with.  Don't tell me anything!

April 25th - Meeting of the Crazy Rabbits

Hello Crazy Rabbits!

Just a reminder that our next meeting is as follows:

Date:  April 25th
Time:  6:00p to 9:00p
Location: Beth's House
Address & gate code:  hop over.

Topic:  Continue working on your altered books.  Or any other project you want to bring over.  We are not starting anything new this month.

Ms. Mucus: where is she???  She is going into retirement.  I will take bids if anyone wishes to adopt her.  Bids can come in the form of money, wine, buttons, ribbons, glue, etc...

Food & beverages:  Lorie called dibs on dessert.  Let me know what you will bring over so I can make sure we have enough of the right stuff.

RSVP: by 4/23.  I need a head count.  Let me know if you are coming over or not.  Feel free to bring a guest, just let me know.

NEW NEW NEW: I am starting a rabbit challenge.  Each month or so...I will have an object that you will receive.  Your challenge is to take it home and before the next meeting, do something with it.  Bring it back so we can compare!  You will all receive the same object.  You can choose NOT to participate if you wish.  This exercise is meant to be fun and to stretch our creative minds...  If this is something you want to do, let me know so I can be prepared.  No response to this question and I will assume you are not interested and I will not have one for you.

February 22, 2012 - Meeting of the Crazy Rabbit Art Circle

Date:  2/22/2012
Time:  6:30p - 9:30p (or so)
Location:  Beth's House

Birthdays: January 25th was Carolyn's birthday!  Lorie's birthday is February 2nd!!!

Theme:  Finger foods, bring something...Tiffany already called dibbs on dessert.

Project:  Beginning Altered Books

I will provide you with a book, direction, help and try to have samples of books in various stages of alteration.  This evening will get you started on the book, getting it prepared for embellishment at home.  Fair warning, your book will start out ugly and in the end, be a masterpiece!

You need to bring:

1.  Adhesives: suggestions are industrial strength glue sticks, paste, double sided tape, decoupage medium (matte).  Unless you want your pages to have wrinkles, glue with as little water as possible if best for gluing pages together.  Other glues may be used to attach paper or fabric to pages.
Optional: Tim Holtz tissue tape for the edges of your pages.
Optional: clips, wire, screws, thread, etc...

2.  Color for pages: ink pads, acrylic paints, chalk, colored pencils, crayons, etc...

3.  Papers:  use as a base for pages or collage...these can be coordinated or random depending on your style

4.  Tools:  scissors, craft knife, cutting mat if you have one, paint brush if using paint, metal ruler, brayer.  I have all these if needed we can share.

5.  You:  An open mind; no judging or trying to help others unless they ask...remember, art is a very personal thing and we all have very different styles!
