Update on December Meeting

Hello Rabbits,

It has come to my attention that:

1.  some of you don't really want to make cookies
2.  there are alot of children in our area that are going hungry

So, here's the scoop:

1.  if you want to be part of the cookie exchange, bring cookies
2.  if you don't want to be part of the cookie exchange, don't bring cookies and don't take any cookies

3.  both Betty & Beryl are involved in organizations that help the hungry children in our area.  If you would like to help these kids, any $$ would be appreciated - bring it to the meeting and one of the Rabbits will take it and make sure it goes to a child in need.

As the Mama Rabbit, I will be baking cookies because I have never done it before and I have now completed detailed research on the subject.  I will also bring two ten dollar bills - one for Betty's group, one for Beryl's group.

Oh yes, I'll also be bringing the beverages!

Looking forward to seeing those of you that can make it!

Happy Ho, Ho, Ho to you!

Beth

Fake it Till You Make it....

Rabbits -

Yesterday, Beryl and I went for lunch to celebrate her birthday!  After eating some yummy food, we went into a few shops to sniff around about having our art creations on consignment and exploring the cost of having a space in different stores.

As it turns out, we met a wonderful woman that owns The Conscious Connection in Ozona.  She is having an event on December 3rd from 12p - 5p.  It is a Holiday Wing Ding Thing!

Beryl & I purchased and reserved a table for our stuff!  It was $20 and we need to bring our own table.  I think she and I will fill this table up...no problem.

If anyone else wants to try their hand at selling their things, I think you'll need to get a spot...$20 and have a table.  Perhaps we can set up all our tables next to each other and cover for each other if we need to work or pee.  I think two people per table will be ideal.  We are THE Crazy Rabbits!

We had to have a "company" name and make a donation for the hourly drawing.  So I told her we were the Crazy Rabbit Art Circle and I donated an altered spoon I had in my purse (you never know when you'll be on The Price is Right).

I don't have time to create a website but I did create a Facebook page!  Look for it and like it - The Crazy Rabbit Art Circle.  You'll see I also started a photo file.  Anyone that wants to have their work posted there for all to see and maybe buy - let's do it!  As the Admin of the page, I suspect that I will have to add the photos but just send any to me, along with a "title/description" and I will post.

Anyone else interested in selling your wares that day????  Hey, I am told this is how all the artist start out!  So, let's hop on it!

Recipe - Dawn's mexican tortilla wheels

1 cup sour cream
2 bricks cream cheese softened
1 small can chopped black olives, drained
1 can (4oz) diced green chilies, drained
2 C shredded mexican cheese
1/2 C chopped green onions
packet of taco seasoning
10 inch flour tortillas

i spread it on pretty thick, so only used 6 tortillas, but you could probably make a couple of more and do them a little thinner.  roll them up as tight as you can in saran wrap without squishing all the filling out and twist the ends.  freeze for about 30-60 mins to get them solid enough to slice easily but without freezing them.  i thought about adding some finely diced roasted red peppers or sun dried tomatoes for color, or thought a layer of guacamole or refried beans on top of the cr cheese mix might be good, too.  or just "as is".

August 24th - Meeting of the Crazy Rabbits

Date:  August 24, 2011

Time:  6:30pm to 9:30p

NOTE: Crazy Rabbit Beth has a birthday on August 16th.  So we will celebrate her birth with good cheer.  GAG gifts are encouraged but not required.

Location:  Lorie's House, 2885 Endicott Ct., Clearwater, FL 33761

Cost
  • Let's do a themed pot luck this time.  How about Mexican?  Bring a food or beverage to share...choose from the main dish, appetizers, dessert, beverages.  First to let me know gets dibs on the item. (Reminder: hostess will provide plates & glasses, forks & napkins, but not food or wine....makes it easy to be a hostess!)
  • Bring laughter, a positive attitude and some cheer!
ProjectStepping Stones (see samples at the bottom of this post)
Lorie will provide mortar/concrete & latex gloves plus the sweetie pie hubbie to do the mixing and pouring for us.  Thank you, Allen!

Supplies you need to bring:
  1. MOLD of choice:  You can buy molds at Michaels or JoAnn's but why spend money when you can use an old cake pan (9x9) or small pizza box, aluminum pans, ice cream buckets, plastic storage boxes, plastic planter saucer, etc.  Just make sure it's something you don't plan on keeping if it gets damaged in the process.
  2. EMBELLISHMENTS: When gathering items for embellishing your stepping stones, steer clear of wooden items because they don't stick into the concrete very well. Get creative with your embellishments! Try seashells, marbles, beach glass, mosaic tiles, buttons, small toys, and mementos of any sort. You will be able to make prints in the cement after it has set for between 30 minutes to an hour. Besides handprints and paw prints. Try making prints with other items such as dog biscuits, leaves, cookie cutters, etc. Go to the thrift store and pick out old, colorful ceramic plates. You can break them up to use to make mosaic stepping stones. The possibilities are endless....
  3. Saran Wrap & petroleum jelly
  4. Piece of old screen or hardware cloth - about the size of your mold. It will be used in the center of your stepping stone to make it stronger.
  5. A few rags
  6. Sturdy box to set your creation in to take home. Your stepping stone will have to set for 24 hours before removing from mold.
When you create stepping stones at home you can add dye to the mortar but we will NOT be doing that this evening as we're trying to keep a fun project a little simpler and not so messy.
